Our prints are featured in the new book 'SHELFIE' by Martha Roberts
Our prints have been featured in the new book 'Shelfie' by Martha Roberts and we are so excited we wanted to share this news with you! Seeing our art prints published in print and being credited in the directory it's a very proud moment for our brand. This beautifully designed book is the first of its kind to be solely dedicated to the new phenomenon of the 'SHELFIE' (deriving from combining SELFIE and SHELF), and refers to styled SHELVES and SHELF ART. The term was coined by author Rick Riordan who tweeted the word SHELFIE and consequently the Wall Street Journal identified it as Instagram's next craze in April 2014. Instagram is all about inspirational photos and this term has grown a lot in prominence over the last few years. A SHELFIE can be a feature from any room in the home, from the bathroom, a kids bedroom, the sitting room or the office.
'When shelfies first became a 'thing' they were book shelfies and it's still deeply satisfying to see a great shelfie in action'
'Shelfie' book by Martha Roberts, out now
Me with Martha at the book launchI met Martha Roberts at a mini business course we were both attending. When she first told me about this book concept I was immediately struck by what an interesting and relevant idea it was. Martha styles incredibly beautiful Shelfies for her Blog and Instagram called The Colour file and so it was easy to see how exciting this project was. The two of us got talking about collaborating and Martha suggested using some of our prints for the styling. Our prints are featured on page 112 in the opening spread of the kids section. Our ABC Alphabet, Blip Blip Robots and Splish Splosh prints look great in this 'under the stairs' space which has been turned into a bright and spacious play zone.
'Storage boxes for small pieces impose some order, leaving shelves to house artwork and a display of favourite items on top and everyday toys further down'
Our prints in the book Shelfie in the kids section, photography by Nick PopeThe book SHELFIE - Clutter-clearing ideas for stylish shelf art, takes you through a journey of ideas for all styles whether you are into colour, monochrome, plant loving or minimalism. Martha delivers up inspiring tips and tricks on how best to create a SHELFIE through for example the use of layering, different textures, horizontal books and visualising a triangle. There are loads of ideas on what objects to use to enhance your SHELFIE. She suggests creating a 'capsule wardrobe' of styling items, a collection of all the objects you love such as books, vases, glasses, candles, art work, rocks and shells as an inspiring go to source of things to combine like a 'melodious choir'.

Creating a Shelfie spread, from the book 'Shelfie' Illustrations by Naomi WilkinsonWe are really proud being part of this gorgeous little book, the first ever 'Shelfie' book. Why I love and feel compelled to recommend it is because of Martha's beautiful writing, with which she encourages you to get personal and creative when decorating your house.
